Cholesterol will be the focus of a free presentation by Dr. Veronica Waks, N.D. at the Cheshire Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 P.M.
This lecture explains our dietary sources of cholesterol and its production by our bodies. Dietary cholesterol has almost nothing to do with serum cholesterol - the cholesterol in your blood. Topics will include high cholesterol, LDL, HDL, homocysteine, C-reactive protein and other markers of cholesterol, the false promise of cholesterol lowering drugs, and the place of foods, nutritional supplements and exercise in lowering your serum cholesterol.
Dr. Veronica Waks is a licensed naturopathic physician from the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center on Beach Road in Fairfield. After practicing allopathic medicine as a traditional M.D. in Russia for more than 10 years, she passed her United States Medical License Exams and obtained a United States Foreign Medical Certificate. Concerned about the negative side
effects of standard pharmaceutical treatments, Dr. Waks studied natural and alternative therapies and received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine.
Dr. Waks' lecture will be followed by an open Q&A session.
