Cheshire Hit Hard As State Digs Out From Storm

October 30, 2011 by John Rook

Connecticut Light and Power is reporting that nearly 11,000 people, or roughly 97 percent of Cheshire, is without power today as a freak snow storm passed through the state yesterday..
According to official reports, more than 750,000 people are without electricity around the state, mainly in the central and northern parts of the state. The number of power outages and range of damage exceeds what was done during Tropical Storm Irene, which hit Connecticut at the end of August.
Because of the extensive number of outages, CL&P has not been able to give a timetable as to when power will be restored to specific towns, however, representatives from the utility company, along with Gov. Dannel Malloy, have said it could take a week or more.
