If Your Weekend Is Still Open, Check Out These Local Happenings

October 21, 2011 by John Rook

The weekend is here, but that doesn't mean your schedule is booked completely. If you're looking to get out of the house, try some of these local events:

*Friday, Oct. 21, and Saturday, Oct. 22
Haunted Hayride
Bishop Farm
500 South Meriden Road
7:30 to 10 p.m., both nights

Creepy crawlers and things that go bump in the night will be roaming around Bishop Farms tonight and tomorrow. Are you brave enough to see what they are up to? The Cheshire High School Class of 2012 is sponsoring the event. Tickets are $5 per person. With Halloween right around the corner, this is a great time to get in a few chills.

*Friday, Oct. 21
CHS Young Democrats Rally
Funky Monkey
130 Elm Street
6 p.m.

If you're interested in meeting members of the Cheshire Democratic Party who are running for election this year, be sure to check out tonight's rally, sponsored by the Cheshire High School Young Democrats. Many of the local candidates will be on hand to discuss their position on several issues facing the town. This is a great meet-and-greet opportunity for all.

*Saturday, Oct. 22
Friends of Cheshire Library Used Book Sale
Cheshire Public Library
104 Main Street

9:30 a.m.

A wide variety of used books have been available throughout the week at the Library, with tomorrow being the last day for residents to get their hands on some quality paperback and hardcover items.
