The following is a press release from the Cheshire Registrar of Voters:
Cheshire Registrars of Voters Aleta G. Looker and Susan D. Pappas announced today that, per CT Statute 9-17, a Special Voter Registration session would be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Registrars of Voters office on the first floor of the Cheshire Town Hall. Would-be voters are advised that final day for mailed voter registration is Tuesday, October 25, per CT Statute 9-16. The last day to register in person is Tuesday, November 1, and the Registrars’ office will remain open until 8 p.m.
After the November 1 cutoff date, registration for the November 8 election is limited to those who become eligible between November 1 and November 8 either by becoming 18 years old, becoming a naturalized citizen or moving into Cheshire between these dates. The voting regulations regarding this restricted registration are spelled out in CT Statues 9-16 and 9-17. Registration deadline for those in any of these three categories is noon on Monday, Nov. 7.
You must be a registered voter in Cheshire in order to vote in Cheshire either in person or by absentee ballot. If you are not sure if you are currently registered to vote in Cheshire, please call the Registrars of Voters office at 203-271-6680 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Absentee ballot applications are available from the Town Clerk’s Office.
