The Cheshire Soccer Club recently enjoyed a pair of first place finishes. Cheshire U-11 boys swept four games to win the 20th Connecticut Invitational Tournament (June 11-12) at Quinnipiac Park. The U-12 girls’ competition team played Shelton to a 2-2 draw last Saturday, sharing first place of their short-sided division (eight vs. eight). Shelton jumped ahead in the opening five minutes, but Abby Abramson tied the score during the second half. In the first overtime, Shelton retook the lead. Tatum Bailey answered in the final minute of the second overtime. A scramble ensued after a free kick and then Bailey scored the tying goal. Being a Connecticut-Cup game, there were no penalty kicks.
