The public is invited to join artist Tony Falcone, students, teachers and Artsplace staff responsible for the new “History of Painting” mural at a reception tomorrow, June 14, from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Artsplace, 1220 Waterbury Road.
The mural project was conceived by Ron Gagliardi and funded with a grant from the Cheshire Education Foundation. Mr. Gagliardi wanted to rectify the omission of professional muralist Tony Falcone’s amazing public art in Cheshire, his hometown.
Mr. Falcone worked with talented Cheshire High students from an Advanced Placement Studio Art Class this spring. Together, students, with guidance from Falcone, explored details of well-known paintings from prehistoric cave art to contemporary art. They then chose special features to highlight on 2’ X 2’ panels to create the mural. Special assistance was provided by Melanie Rice and CHS AP art instructor, Michael Earley.
Please join the members of Cheshire Performing & Fine Arts Committee for the short ceremonial “unveiling” of the mural next Tuesday and enjoy this artistic accomplishment along with refreshments. If more information is necessary, please call 203-272-ARTS/2787.
