The Cheshire Human Services Committee is happy to announce Cheshire’s 5th Annual Alcohol Awareness Week, going on now through Saturday. The week is a way for the Cheshire community to recognize the importance of encouraging youth not to participate in underage drinking.
Each year, the committee hosts a logo and slogan contest at Dodd Middle School. The winning logo was designed by Arati Rajeevan (pictured), 8th grade. The winning slogan was designed by Angela Chiavalloti (pictured), grade 8. Both the logo and the slogan were placed on promotional bags that will be distributed in town during the week at area merchants. The slogan was placed on pencils distributed at Dodd Middle School and in town. All entries will be displayed at Town Hall.
Tonight, Ryan Tapp will be making a community presentation in Council Chambers at 7 p.m. Tapp is a 2006 graduate of Cheshire High School. From a near death experience to months of rehabilitation and more, Ryan will be sharing his battle back from a serious Traumatic Brain Injury, a direct result of driving while intoxicated. Ryan's story will touch your heart and make the dangers of drinking and driving very real.
Cheshire High School SADD students will be distributing brown bags with safe driving messages to local package stores. The bags were made as part of a SADD activity at B-1Day. For more information please contact SADD advisor: Kim Vesper email@example.com
