Town Councilor Anne Giddings has died from injuries she suffered in a car crash more than a month ago.
Sources confirmed to The Herald that Giddings, 66, who was critically injured in a one-car crash on March 22 off Boulder Road near Giddings' home, died on Monday.
The accident occurred as she was returning from a Town Council meeting, where she had told her fellow Councilors that she wasn't feeling well. After the crash, Giddings was taken to the St. Mary's Hospital, where she remained in critical condition for weeks. Recent reports said Giddings had stabilized and was removed from intensive care. Her exact cause of death is unknown at this time.
Giddings car went off the road and up an embankment before striking a telephone pole. The vehicle then rolled over onto its roof in the middle of the road. Police said she was semi-conscious when they arrived on the scene. Sources had said Giddings suffered from head injuries and broken ribs as a result of the crash.
There is a Town Council meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. which will still be held as scheduled.
