Cheshire Community Theater would like you to “analyze this!” CCT has cast an extraordinary ensemble for its upcoming production of The Girl in the Freudian Slip, a sophisticated comedy by William F. Brown. The cast will bring the show to live audiences on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at 8 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee on May 1 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at Cheshire High School's Thorp Auditorium.
In this comedic play, The Girl in the Freudian Slip, Dr. Dewey Maugham, a middle-aged New York psychiatrist, feels like he needs to have his own head examined as he struggles with this “thing” for a former patient who wrestled with nymphomania on the dctor's couch for thre years. His efforts to avoid temptation lead to some very humorous moments.
Cheshire resident Kim Wantroba is the director of this production. She previously directed CCT's 2004 musical, Cinderella. Wade Elmer, a versatile CCT veteran, will play Dr. Maugham. Donna Ekegren of Cheshire will appear as his attractive fashion designer wife, Paula Maugham. Leslie Maugham, the couple's only child who is wise beyond her years, will be portrayed by Cheshire's Deanna Giuletti. Another town resident, Toby Henst, is cast as Mr. Wellman, one of the doctor's patients who is overwhelmed by self doubt and rejection. Mark Wantroba (the director's husband) will play Dr. Alec Rice, a charming and confident colleague and family friend. CCT newcomer, Tina Perrotti of Westbrook, will appear as Barbara Leonard, Dewey's very beautiful, intelligent, and sexually emancipated former patient.
