A head-on collision between two cars on Reservoir Road sent three people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon with what police describe as serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to a two car accident near Broad Brook Reservoir. Police believe a pick up truck, traveling eastbound towards Wallingford, drifted into the other lane and struck the other vehicle, a PT Cruiser, head-on. Both drivers, and a passenger in the PT Cruiser, were taken to the hospital in ambulances.
The Cheshire Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to remove the door of the PT Cruiser in an effort to free the driver. Police stated that all three victims were conscious and alert when they arrived to the accident.
The road was closed for two hours as crews worked to clean up the scene, which included quite a bit of broken glass from the vehicles and broken bottles from the back of the pickup.
