Workers from the state Department of Transportation are busily working to replace a traffic light that succumb to the weight of the ice produced by yesterday's storm.
DOT was called onto the scene after the light pole, located at the intersection of Highland and Maple avenues, snapped in half at approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Highland Avenue was closed for a brief time.
Temporary stop signs have been placed at the intersection and will remain up until the work has been completed, Cheshire Police Department officials announced this morning. Workers are currently in the process of installing a new pole and signal, and the project is expected to take all of Wednesday.
While Route 10 remains open, police officials warn residents to expect delays in the area throughout the day.
