Rothbart, Pereira Take To the Soccer Field At Quinnipiac University

The Quinnipiac University men’s soccer team holds their second scrimmage against Fairfield University this afternoon at 3 p.m. A pair of 2008 Cheshire High School graduates, juniors Durval Pereira (mid-field) and Matt Rothbart (defense), contribute to a veteran team.
The 2010 Northeast Conference pre-season poll, conducted by the coaches, picks right up from last year. Monmouth University (West Long Branch, New Jersey), the champion, received 10 first place votes and the Bobcats posted one in second place. Quinnipiac (9-4-7 record) reached it’s first NEC Final last fall, losing 2-1 to Monmouth. Pereira (two goals, four assists; 19 games) and Rothbart (assist; 14 games) both started the contest.
The rivalry starts again on Oct. 1 when Monmouth visits Hamden. Quinnipiac Head Coach Eric Da Costa leads his team into their opener with Boston College (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) on Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
