CHS Swim And Dive Team Ending Season On High Note

The Cheshire High School boys' swim and dive program rallied to overcome Newtown (393.5 points) for second place (394.5 points) at the Class L Final, held Wednesday Night at Wesleyan University. In the process, they avenged previous defeats to Amity (fourth, 370 points) and Naugatuck (sixth, 345 points). Pomperaug won the championship by amassing 852.5 points.
Cheshire ends their season today at Yale University, returning to the State Open Swim Final after a one-year hiatus. Freshman Greg Han (100-yard breaststroke, 1:01.2), along with the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.88), have qualified for the meet that begins at 2:30 p.m. Han is an alternate in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.85), joining the 200-yard freestyle team (1:33.68).
State Open Diving was postponed from Thursday to this morning at Yale. Seniors Jordan Attwood (398.3) and Mike Topitzer (378.15) qualified for the second year in a row. The meet starts at 10 a.m.
