Wildcats 12-U Black, 14-U Flames Red Place Second In CVFL Tournament

Local girls earned a pair of softball runner-up finishes in the Central Valley Fastpitch League Tournament run last Friday through Sunday at Bartlem Park, Cheshire High School, Dodd Middle School, and Cheshire Park. Cheshire Wildcats 12-U Black lost to Southington Lightning and Cheshire Flames 14-U Red placed second to Watertown Rapids.
In the 10-U final, Valley Fusion defeated Southington.

Cheshire American Legion Senior Baseball Holds Off Host Stamford, Wins First Regional Crown

On Tuesday, Cheshire American Legion Senior baseball (29-10) beat host Stamford (31-6-1) 7-5 to capture the program's first Southern Division Super Regional Tournament at Cubeta Stadium. Cheshire never trailed after scoring four runs in the first inning.

American Legion Senior Baseball Plays For First Regional Title On Tuesday

Cheshire American Legion Senior baseball (28-10) carries a four-game win streak into Tuesday's Super Regionals game at Cubeta Stadium in Stamford. They play either defending champion Branford (32-3) or host Stamford (30-5-1) at 6:30 p.m. With a win, Cheshire would realize their first Super Regional crown and advance to the state finals on Friday.

On Sunday, at Cubeta Stadium in Stamford, Cheshire American Legion Senior baseball (28-10) posted a 2-0 shutout of defending state champ Branford (32-3) in the Super Regional Tournament. It was the team's fourth straight victory.

Harding Attends WPSL Semis

In the first of two Women's Premier Soccer League semifinals on Saturday, Cailynn Harding and Connecticut Football Club (CFC) Passion lost 2-0 to the Houston Aces at Arundel High School (Gambrills, Maryland). Harding is a 2011 Cheshire High School graduate.

Cheshire American Legion Baseball Rallies To Beat Host Stamford In Super Regionals

On Saturday, Cheshire American Legion Senior baseball (27-10) came from behind to beat host Stamford (29-5-1) 5-4 in 10 innings at Cubeta Stadium. Stamford scored the first three runs and took a 3-1 advantage into the ninth inning before Cheshire staged a late rally in their Super Regionals opener. First baseman Mike Purcell (single, walk) hammered a two-out, two-run double to tie the game 3-3.

Cheshire Girls Win LAX Title In Newington!

At Clem Lemire Recreation Complex in Newington, Cheshire girls' lacrosse won the 13-U Nutmeg State Games Tournament on Saturday. They went unbeaten against Tolland (14-6), Newtown Nighthawks (12-7), CT Fury (7-5), and CT Dodgers (6-5).
