CHS Teams Start Practice For 2015 Season

Cheshire High School boys' and girls' cross country, field hockey, boys' and girls' soccer, girls' swim and dive, and girls' volleyball teams begin the fall pre-season on Thursday. Check back for schedules on scrimmages and more updates.

Cheshire Hockey Player Will Play Professionally In CWHL

Following her four-year career with the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey program, Cheshire resident Rachel Farrel became a professional player last Sunday. Farrel was picked by the Boston Blades in the fourth round of the Canadian Women's Hockey League Draft.

Cheshire Football Opens Up Pre-season Camp, Will Practice With Berlin On Thursday

Cheshire High School football opened fall practice last Friday. The Rams graduated 23 players after going 8-3 last fall. Eight wins was the highest total since Cheshire captured the Class LL crown in 2009. In sharing the Southern Connecticut Conference Division I East crown (3-1) with Notre Dame-West Haven, Cheshire held the title for the first time since 2008.

CJF Running Pre-Season Jamboree On Saturday

On Saturday, Cheshire Junior Football will host their pre-season jamboree of half-hour scrimmages at Cheshire High School. Cheshire is fielding teams in fourth through eighth grade this year.
The regular season starts on Aug. 30.

Rams Football Starts Fall Practice On Friday

On Friday, Cheshire High School opens condition for the 2015 season. After going 8-3 (most wins since 2009) last fall, the Rams graduated 23 seniors.
Brothers Chris and Nate Hillburn, along with RJ Oris, are this year's senior captains under Head Coach Don Drust.

Men's Softball Teams Secure Division Playoff Crowns At Cheshire Park

At Cheshire Park, Campania Club (A), Franklin Products (B), and Cheshire Cubs (Slow Pitch) all captured 2015 Cheshire Men's Softball League playoff titles. The regular season champion, Campania Club defeated Spartan II 17-2 (Aug. 12) and 6-4 (Aug. 13) to win the crown.

Cheshire Girls' Volleyball Sets Tryout Schedule

Cheshire High School girls' volleyball has announced that their fall tryouts will start on Aug. 27-28, going from 4:30-7 p.m. in the West Gym. On Aug. 29, CHS will have sessions from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

May Wins Fourth National Title And Breaks YMCA Record, Sea Dog Swim Club Takes Third Overall at IUPUI

On the final night of the YMCA Long Course National Championship, Cheshire Y/Sea Dog Swim Club's David May rewrote the YMCA record book at Indiana University Purdue University Indiana (IUPUI). May, 15, secured his fourth national crown in the men's 200-meter butterfly (2:02.33) and he eclipsed the national record (2:02.39) in the process.

Ecke Resigns As Danbury Head Football Coach, Trasacco To Lead To Hatters

Cheshire resident Alex Trasacco has been promoted to Danbury High School football head coach. After resigning from the position, former Cheshire High School head coach Mark Ecke will teach at Capitol Prep Harbor School in Bridgeport.
Danbury went 8-3 under Ecke last fall.

The First Annual Theresa's Battleship Fundraiser is scheduled for this Saturday at the Cheshire Parks and Recreation Department at 559 South Main Street. The event will begin at 3 p.m.

Cheshire Girls' Basketball Knocks Off Coginchaug, Will Meet Lyman Hall For the Summer League Crown

In Summer League action, Cheshire High School basketball teams won their semifinals on Wednesday. The girls beat Coginchaug 37-11 and the boys defeated Wilcox Tech.
Thursday's finals will be played at Wallingford Parks and Recreation. Start time is 8 p.m.
