Zumerchik Plays For SCC Title, State Tournament Pairings For CHS Softball, Baseball, And Girls' Tennis

Despite 19 kills and 14 digs from Cheshire resident Andre Zumerchik on Friday, Xavier High School boys' volleyball (second seed, 11-10) lost 3-1 (16-25, 15-25, 25-21, 18-25) in the Southern Connecticut Conference final at Shelton (top, 18-2).
A senior, Zumerchik is the SCC Player of the Year.

In Thursday's Southern Connecticut Conference semifinals, Cheshire High School softball (top seed, 20-2) came up short 3-0 against Housatonic Division rival Amity (fifth, 16-6) at West Haven. CHS still has a 2-1 edge in the season series.
Amity senior Jenna DiLorenzo had RBI singles in the third and seventh innings. The Spartans also had an unearned run during the seventh.

CHS Softball Beats Foran In SCC Quarters, Boys' V-Ball Ends Season, Golf Teams Split

In Wednesday's Southern Connecticut Conference quarterfinals, Cheshire High School softball (top seed, 20-1) defeated Foran (eighth, 11-10) 7-1. Cheshire claimed the season series (3-0).
Senior pitcher Mackenzie Juodaitis (four hits, eight strikeouts, walk) improved to 18-1. Juodaitis also had an RBI single and classmate Andrea Russo scored for her as a courtesy runner.

Skibitcky, Simione Win Titles For CHS On Tuesday

On Tuesday, Cheshire High School junior track and field athlete Janaia Skibitcky took home three medals from the Southern Connecticut Conference Championship at Sheehan. Skibitcky won her first conference crowns in the long jump (18 feet, 0.5 inch) and 4x100-meter relay (junior Janine Zumerchik, sophomore Sarah Clark, senior Olivia Palmer; 49.54), the former event breaking her own school record.

Stauffer Returns To D-III National Final, CHS Boys' Lacrosse Falls In Finale

Sophomore mid-fielder Nicole Stauffer, a 2013 Cheshire High School graduate, contribute to Trinity College women's lacrosse beating Franklin & Marshall College 11-6 in Saturday's NCAA Division III semifinal in Chester, Pennsylvania. Down 4-2, the Bantams scored a season-high nine consecutive goals! They started the second half on a 7-0 surge.

CHS Softball Caps Best Regular Season, Baseball And Boys' Tennis Also Win On Friday

On Friday, Cheshire High School softball (19-1, two-time defending Housatonic Champion at 8-0) beat North Haven (10-10) 9-1 to sweep the series. The win capped the program's best regular season.

Corrected Dates For CQVIT Tournament

The dates of Cheshire Soccer Club's Connecticut Quinnipiac Valley Invitational Tournament (CQVIT) were incorrectly printed in today's issue of The Cheshire Herald. The girls' event will run Saturday and Sunday at Quinnipiac Park. Teams from Connecticut and New England will play in different age divisions.

There is no admittance fee.
