CHS Boys' V-Ball And Tennis Teams Earn Wins, Girls' LAX And Tennis Come Up Short

Cheshire High School boys' volleyball (3-0) stayed unbeaten on Wednesday, sweeping Masuk (1-2) 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-10, and 25-19. Blocking was key in the victory. CHS picked up career-high totals from seniors Greg Zane (eight blocks, two kills), Ted Li (five, six), and Colin Haensel (six, four).

Cheshire hosts Notre Dame-West Haven (2-0) at 12 p.m.
Softball (3-1, 1-1 in Housatonic Division)
The Lady Rams postponed their game with Career Magnet (0-2). No make-up has been set yet. Cheshire hosts Foran (3-0) on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.

CHS Postpones Track And Field Meets, Wednesday's Varsity Slate

Cheshire High School outdoor track and field has postponed meets on Tuesday. The girls' home opener against Shelton has been moved to April 24. The boys' tri-meet with host Shelton and West Haven will be Wednesday. Start times remain 3:45 p.m.

Cheshire Girls' LAX, Tennis Extend Strong Starts

Cheshire High School girls' tennis improved to 3-0 on Monday afternoon, beating East Haven (0-3) 6-1. Senior twin sisters Christy and Katie Freitag (6-0, 6-2), senior Ashley Tartaglia and junior Sidney Tomko (6-1, 6-0), and sophomore Katherine Wang and junior Emily Acquavita (6-2, 6-0) are unbeaten in doubles.

Bailey To Play In JCC All-Star Game

Cheshire High School senior point guard/tri-captain Missy Bailey will finish her high school basketball career in Sunday's All-Jewish Community Center (JCC) All-Star Game. It will be played at the JCC of Greater New Haven in Woodbridge. Start time is 1:30 p.m.

Cheshire Baseball Stuns Amity, Girls' LAX Takes Opener

For the first time since 2009, Cheshire High School baseball (1-2, 1-0) defeated 10-time defending Housatonic Division Champion Amity (0-3, 0-1) at home. CHS ended a scoreless game with four runs in the fifth inning. Senior Matt Hickey (hit by pitch) came home on a balk.

Richardson Leads Cheshire Girls Past Southington

At Mountain Mist Outdoor Center in Meriden, Jamiya Richardson scored three tries to lead Cheshire girls' rugby (1-1) past Southington 24-12. Isabel Cuddy also had a try and Cammi Chester added two conversions.

Cheshire Football Out Lifts Competition In New London

On March 22, Cheshire High School earned first place (12,490 pounds) out of 19 teams in the Inaugural Connecticut High School Football Weight Lifting Competition at New London. UConn Men's Soccer Is Coming To CHS In April

University of Connecticut men's soccer will host an exhibition against St. John University (N.Y.) on April 12 at Cheshire High School's Alumni Field. A youth clinic for up to eighth grade will be held from 5-6 p.m. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Bishop Breaks Freestyle Record, CHS Swims To Eighth In Class LL

On Wednesday, Cheshire High School boys' swim and dive took eighth (245.5 points) in the Class LL final at Wesleyan University. Sophomore Karl Bishop broke the school record in the 500-yard freestyle (fifth, 4:40.41). The previous mark of 4:44.64 was held by Justin Schwarz from 1996.

Cretella To Play For Class S B-Ball Crown on Saturday, CHS Boys To Swim In State Open

St. Paul Catholic of Bristol sophomore basketball player Lizzy Cretella will play for the Class S title on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville. Top-seeded St. Paul (22-4) meets Thomaston (third, 19-4) at 3 p.m.

Lady Rams Host Scrimmages

In their last scrimmage, Cheshire High School softball hosts Seymour at 4 p.m. An hour later, girls' lacrosse welcomes Lauralton Hall to Alumni Field for another scrimmage.

Cheshire Boys' Volleyball Has Switched Home Court With Rival

Cheshire High School boys' volleyball has flipped hosting matches with Shelton this season. The Rams will have home court on April 17. They will visit the Gaels on May 9. Both matches will begin at 6 p.m.

Cheshire Boys' Rugby Routs Southington, Girls Drop Opener in Simsbury

The Cheshire Rugby Club started the season on Friday. The boys' 'A' side beat Southington 72-12 at Mountain Mist Outdoor Center in Meriden. The 'B' side lost 15-5.
Cheshire girls lost 24-7 at Simsbury High School.

CHS, Southington Play Dodge Ball For A Good Cause

Last Wednesday, Cheshire High School hosted Southington in the Second Apple Valley Classic Dodge Ball Tournament. Southington boys and girls won their divisions, while CHS faculty and administrators were victorious 3-2 for the second year in a row.

Wildcats To Host Opening Day On Saturday

Cheshire Wildcats softball holds their Opening Day on Saturday at Cheshire High School. Games will run all day.
The Cheshire 12-U 01 team will host a clothing drive and the Sugar Bakery truck is also attending.
