CHS Boys' V-Ball Rallies To Win Sixth SCC Crown, Saturday's Varsity Schedule, Class Tournament Updates

In Friday's Southern Connecticut Conference final, Cheshire High School boys' volleyball (top seed, 15-5) came back to defeat Daniel Hand (second, 10-10) 3-2 (25-18, 25-27, 23-25, 25-15, 15-7) for their sixth conference tournament crown. CHS went 3-0 in the season series.

In Thursday's Southern Connecticut Conference final, Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse (second seed, 13-5) came up short 11-10 in overtime against top-seeded Daniel Hand (16-2) at West Haven. With 3.7 seconds left in extra time, Hand sophomore Taylor Scully netted the game-winner on a free-position shot.

Abramson Sparks CHS Softball In Shutout Of Guilford, Boys' Volleyball Advances To SCC Title Match

Led by junior co-captain/pitcher Abby Abramson, Cheshire High School softball (top seed, 21-0) posted an 11-0 shutout of Guilford (eighth, 11-10) in the Southern Connecticut Conference quarterfinals. On the mound, Abramson recorded a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts (tie for personal-best) and two walks.

CHS Girls' Lacrosse Wins Big In SCC Semi, Track And Field Athletes Capture Conference Titles, Golf Teams Sweep Foes

On Tuesday, Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse (second seed, 13-4) earned their fourth consecutive win 14-4 over Branford (third, 14-3) in the Southern Connecticut Conference semifinals at CHS. In earning a split of the season series, Cheshire jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held an 8-2 advantage at halftime.

Led by a 48 from junior Karen Larkin on Monday, Cheshire High School girls' golf (5-13) defeated Sacred Heart Academy 207-223 at Southington Country Club. CHS earned a split of the series.

Simione Is Up For CPTV Sports Honor, CHS Softball Has Top Seed For SCC Tournament

Cheshire High School softball junior center fielder Sam Simione has been nominated for CPTV Sports UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week. On Friday, Simione hit an RBI single to tie East Haven (14-5) 3-3 in the seventh inning and added the walk-off solo home run in the 11th to break the stalemate, as Cheshire secured their first unbeaten regular season (20-0) in school history.

The Rams travel to Laurel View Country Club to meet host Hamden (7-8) at 2:30 p.m.
Cheshire won 170-177 last Thursday.
Girls' Golf (4-13)
CHS hosts Sacred Heart Academy (4-5) at Southington Country Club. Start time is 3 p.m.
SHA won 213-235 on April 27.
