Mueller Reaches Goal Of All-New England

November 17, 2009 by Greg Lederer

Cheshire High School junior cross country runner Sean Mueller placed 21st overall (16:46) at the New England Championship, held Nov. 14 from Wickham Park in Manchester. He improved his performance from last year (79th place) and earned All-New England for the first time. It was his fourth race at Wickham Park this fall.
“You get to see the best in New England,” said Mueller, who overcame a slow start to the race. “It felt really good to be top 10 of the state.”
Connecticut seniors John Raneri (New Fairfield, 15:57) and Christopher Bendtse (Wolcott; 16:09) topped the race.
“I think he will be motivated and aggressive for next year,” explained Cheshire Head Coach Jim Bennett. “He will look to be among the best in Connecticut and New England as a senior.”
