Man Sustains Serious Injuries After Being Hit By Car

A motor vehicle collided with a bicyclist Thursday afternoon resulting in serious injuries to a Plantsville man.
At approximately 1:55 p.m., a Cadillac Deville, driven by 77-year-old Robert Marinaro of Cheshire, attempted to turn left into the CVS parking lot, located at 581 Highland Ave. At that moment, John Vath, 31, of Plantsville, was heading south on Highland Avenue and crossed in front of the CVS driveway. Marinaro’s vehicle struck the bicycle, causing Vath to hit the front windshield of Marinaro’s car and roll off on to the street.
Campian Ambulance responded to the scene and Vath was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for what officials deemed “serious, but not life threatening injuries.” Marinaro was issued an infraction for an improper turn. His car was towed from the scene.
