Board Denies Secretaries' Grievance

March 17, 2017 by michael torelli

At their meeting last night, Board of Education members denied a grievance filed by the local secretaries’ union.
The Cheshire Educational Secretaries and Technicians United bargaining group filed a grievance on Jan. 6 with the School District after seven union members sought restitution for arriving late to work two times in December, when the schools were on a delayed opening schedule.
Attorney Eric Brown, who represented the union, claimed that the contract between the Board and bargaining group states that the 49 members should receive compensation for a full day of work despite a delayed opening. School District officials, however, argued otherwise.
