CHS Ice Hockey Drops Saturday's D-II Quarter To NFI, Swimmers To Compete In Class LL Final On Monday

On Saturday at Milford Ice Pavilion, Cheshire High School ice hockey (sixth seed, 12-10) came up short 2-1 against New Fairfield/Immaculate Co-Op (third, 17-4-2) in the Division II quarterfinals. NFI senior James Hayden netted the game-winner, breaking a 1-1 tie with 8:42 remaining.
NFI took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by sophomore Aaron Dibble with 3:40 remaining in the first period. Cheshire answered on a power play with 9:30 left in the second. After a shot by senior Ryan Novia hit the right post, senior Ammar Chaudhry put in the tying goal.
The Rams led 31-24 in shots. Senior goalkeeper Tom Bishop made 22 saves for the Rams.
For NFI, senior goalie Shane Conciatore posted 30 saves. Senior Bailey Bellone and junior Matthew Carlucci tallied assists to help NFI sweep the season series (2-0).
Vinnie Solla (captain), Bishop (assistant captain), Matt Federico (assistant captain), Novia (assistant captain), Chaudhry, Sean Crowley, Mateen Karimi, Conrad Reynolds, Jake Wallinger, Joey Yurczyk, and Katie Bartlett (manager) are graduating seniors for the Rams.
