Girls' Ice Hockey Team Extends Win Streak On Tuesday, Ski Teams End Regular Season, Varsity Slate For Wednesday

On Tuesday, Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Co-Op girls' ice hockey (10-5) collected their fourth consecutive victory 12-6 over Guilford at The Rinks at Shelton. The Connecticut jumped ahead 4-0 in the first period en route to sweeping the season series.
For CHS, sophomore Meaghan Hogan and freshman Olivia Salamone both scored in the opening period. Salamone picked up her first goal.
The Blades received two goals from Amity junior Olivia Dittman, North Haven sophomore Shannon Reilly (assist), and Amity freshman Tess Csejka. North Haven freshman Melissa Montesi supplied a goal and three assists.
North Haven senior Kiley DeGrand, North Haven sophomore Jackie Howlett, and Amity freshman Haley Cable each tallied a goal and an assist. Amity junior Grace Kosh earned two assists. Amity senior Bailey MacNamara, North Haven junior Kyla DelVecchio, North Haven sophomore Katelyn St. Peter, and Amity sophomore Andrea Delvechio also garnered assists.
On Wednesday, the Blades visit Northford Ice Pavilion to face host Daniel Hand at 4 p.m. On Jan. 6, Hand outlasted the Blades 3-2 in overtime.
Skiing (Boys, 15-10; 8-13)
CHS squads ended the regular season at Mount Southington. The boys' team (315.9) defeated Darien (351.9) and Farmington (disqualification), coming up short against Fairfield Prep (304.55) and Wilton (309.7).
Senior tri-captains Peter Brown (13th, 48.96) and Matt Urbano (14th, 49.12) were Cheshire's top finishers. Junior Andrew DePalma (41st, 51.82), senior Max Tougas (61st, 54.41), junior Jack Bennett (65th, 55.31), and senior Dimitri Tracey (68th, 56.28) rounded out the top scorers.
The girls' squad (327.56) beat Farmington (DSQ), along with falling to Darien (303.27) and Wilton (314.39). Senior tri-captain Rebecca Hyman placed 34th (52.06). Senior Emily Bodurtha (42nd, 52.96), junior Rachel Hyman (47th, 53.09), sophomore Grace Johnson (61st, 55.29), senior tri-captain Colleen Carroll (73rd, 56.72), and freshman Riley Chase (75th, 57.44) also scored for CHS.
Cheshire boys have qualified for State Open.

The Rams aim to defend their Southern Connecticut Conference regular season title against Fairfield Prep (10-0) at Fairfield University. Start time is 7 p.m.
Boys' Indoor Track and Field
Cheshire visits New Haven's Floyd Little Athletic Center for the Class LL Championship at 4 p.m.
