The Cheshire High School girls' basketball team (25th seed; 11-11) visits Ridgefield (eighth seed; 16-4) for the Class LL first round on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
With a draw on the horizon at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell today, the Cheshire High School ice hockey team (11-5-2) struck for a thrilling 4-3 victory over host East Catholic (10-8). Junior Spencer Hackett scored the game-winning goal with just under 45 seconds left in overtime, breaking the 3-3 tie. Freshman Matt Muzyka assisted him.
The Cheshire High School ice hockey team (10-5-2) fell short 4-1 to St. Joseph (15-3) last night at the SportsCenter of Connecticut in Shelton. Clinging to a 2-1 lead with 10 minutes left in the third period, St. Joseph's was whistled for a penalty. But, they negated the 5-4 disadvantage by scoring twice short-handed in five seconds.
The Cheshire High School boys’ basketball team (12-8) dropped their regular season finale 52-33 to Hillhouse (16-2) last evening. The Academics used a 16-0 run to take a 30-10 advantage during the second quarter. Senior Drew Crudup tallied eight of his game-high 17 points, as Hillhouse sank seven three-pointers (eight total) by halftime. Classmate Freddie Wilson Jr.
CHS senior wrestler Scott Tomlinson (second seed; 30-4) finished as the Class LL runner-up (9-5) to Trumbull's top seed Benjamin Anderson last night at 135 pounds. With his second straight final appearance at Trumbull High School, Tomlinson qualifies for his first State Open next Friday and Saturday in New Haven.
Cheshire High School junior Jake Scinto had another record-setting day for the boys' indoor track and field program, this time during the State Open at the New Haven Athletic Center.
